Artistic Statement

Paradoxically, New York City is one of the most populated cities in the world, yet it's so lonely.  We go out of our way to ignore others.  "I need to be here, move out of my way."  Growing up here, and learning that most places aren't like this one, is a tough concept to grasp.  This is why it is important to me go out of my way to try to understand people, and learn about their story.  I am inspired to create emotion in a city that seems to have none.
The most important thing to me when I'm engaged in a form of media is the feeling I get from it.  Evoking emotions is vital to the the success of a piece of work.  I think that in order to achieve this, the maker itself needs to have strong feelings and passion about their subject. This will naturally foster genuinely.
I am strongly influenced by the works of Wes Anderson.  Plot wise his films always include a deeper conflict, sprinkled with comedic effects. I also really enjoy his motif of ridiculous situations presented normal everyday happenings: everything crazy is completely normal. in  I also really admire the aesthetics of his films.  His use of color and balance is so beautiful to me.  The simplicity and use of real like picture make his films feel genuine and relatable.  This ties back to the use of rawness that I would want my films to have.  His films are complex, whimsical, beautiful pieces of art and I am strongly influenced by his work.
